Optioâ„¢ IS

INTRINSICALLY SAFE GAS MONITOR

The Optio IS is an Intrinscially Safe multi-gas monitor engineered for operation in classified areas. Once alarm thresholds are reached, the Optio IS can engage local alarms to alert personnel to changing conditions, while seamlessly communicating real-time status to front-end SCADA software such as Conspec’s Senturion S950 command center (sold separately).

Designed for flexibility, the Optio IS supports up to six gas sensors (including CO, Methane, O2, and NO2,) as well as atmospheric sensors for environmental monitoring, providing broad detection coverage from a single device. This versatility helps reduce installation costs while maximizing operational efficiency.

With ETL-US, C-ETL, IECEx and ATEX intrinsic safety approvals, the Optio IS is a global solution for coal mining, hard rock mining, and oil and gas well pad operations.

Available in multiple configurations: Multi-Gas (6, 4), Dual-Gas (2), and Wireless. A Diesel Discriminator configuration is available for environments with diesel equipment.

Conspec’s Optio IS is also offered in a Diesel Discriminator format.

The Optio IS Diesel Discriminator is a multi-gas monitor specifically designed to filter out nuisance Carbon Monoxide Sensor alarms that may occur in a mining environment due to passing diesel equipment, particularly from the cross-sensitivity of NO and NO2 that is normally picked up by a typical Carbon Monoxide Sensor. The result provides real-time Carbon Monoxide, Nitric Oxide and Nitrogen Dioxide readings as measured by the sensors, and a Corrected Carbon Monoxide Reading to provide the actual Carbon Monoxide measurement at the point of monitoring.

Due to the improvements in processor speed, this corrected Carbon Monoxide reading is simultaneously compared with its own previous states and averaged ambient sensor readings to serve as a proof-of-work verification, to both ensure its current accuracy and to further improve the accuracy of the algorithm over time, thus resulting in even less false Carbon Monoxide alarms than in previous generations of diesel discriminators.

Up to three additional sensors can be installed at the desired location, whether for monitoring of other gases or atmospheric conditions, such as the Optio AVM, wet and dry bulb temperature, humidity and barometric pressure, and more.
