Optioâ„¢ PGM

PARKING GARAGE VENTILATION CONTROLLER FOR CO/NO2 SAFETY

The Optio PGM is a stand-alone multi-gas monitor designed for low-level detection of vehicle emissions in enclosed spaces. Once alarm thresholds are reached, the monitor can engage mitigation and notification systems; including turning on ventilation, warning signals, and communicating with a facility’s BAS / BMS.

The Optio PGM’s supports both Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2) sensors. The NO2 sensor can be deployed internally or remotely, allowing the device to detect toxic gases up to 100 ft from the monitor. The Optio PGM seamlessly integrates into larger safety systems, forming a scalable solution engineered to the unique safety and operational needs of any facility.

Multiple detectors can be installed and easily connected without the need for a central panel/controller by a simple series connection of the detectors. LED indicator lights clearly show the status of the detector, and a large LCD display continually shows the CO & NO2 levels being monitored. In the event of a power loss or malfunction, the Optio PGM activates the ventilation system.

Electricity and heating expenses can be dramatically reduced due to the ventilation fans operating only when needed as opposed to continuously running. Energy savings of up to 85% can be achieved and in most cases, the return on the cost of the system is realized in one year or less!

How much can the Optio PGM save on energy costs?

The OPTIO PGM can achieve energy savings of up to 85% by operating ventilation fans only when needed instead of running continuously. In most cases, the return on investment is realized in one year or less through reduced electricity and heating expenses. The system automatically activates exhaust fans when Carbon Monoxide or Nitrogen Dioxide levels become unsafe, then returns to standby mode when air quality normalizes.

What gases does the Optio PGM detect and why are they important in parking garages?

The Optio PGM specifically monitors Carbon Monoxide (CO) and Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), the two primary dangerous gases produced by vehicle exhaust in enclosed spaces. Carbon Monoxide is a deadly, odorless gas that can quickly reach lethal concentrations, while Nitrogen Dioxide causes respiratory irritation and can be particularly dangerous for people with asthma or other breathing conditions.

How easy is it to install multiple Optio PGM units in a large parking garage?

Installation is designed to be simple and cost-effective. Multiple Optio PGM detectors can be connected without requiring a central panel or controller — they link together through a simple series connection. The system features automatic reset after power loss, self-diagnostic capabilities, and LED indicator lights that clearly show detector status. The Nitrogen Dioxide sensor can be located internally or remotely up to 100 feet away for optimal placement.

What applications beyond parking garages can use the Optio PGM?

While designed primarily for parking garages, the Optio PGM is suitable for various applications including vehicle maintenance facilities, factories and warehouses, bus terminals and depots, tunnels, car dealerships, fire and police stations, and service bays. Any enclosed area where vehicles operate and exhaust gases can accumulate will benefit from this monitoring system.

What safety features and certifications does the Optio PGM have?

The Optio PGM is compliant with California Title 24 requirements (pending) and has UL61010-1 and UL2075 approvals (pending), ensuring it meets rigorous safety standards for commercial applications. The gas detector also includes several features that make it ideal for safety applications, including: 4–20 mA output to activate ventilation systems during power loss or malfunction, an onboard 85 dB alarm, bright LCD display showing real-time gas levels, and long-life sensors with self-diagnostic capabilities.
