Optio™ G

MULTI-GAS DETECTOR FOR MINING ENVIRONMENTS

The Optio G is a fixed multi-gas detector (up to 6 sensors) intended for general purpose areas. Eliminate the costs of purchasing and installing multiple detectors with Conspec’s all-in-one solution.

The Optio G is a rugged, MSHA-approved gas detection system engineered for continuous monitoring in the toughest mining and industrial environments. Built for reliability and flexibility, the Optio G can monitor up to six gases simultaneously, giving operators the confidence they need to maintain safe working conditions.

Equipped with three advanced NDIR sensors for methane (CH₄) and carbon dioxide (CO₂), plus three plug-and-play sensors that are pre-configured and pre-calibrated, the Optio G delivers accuracy without the hassle of constant manual adjustments. Its flexible design allows facilities to tailor gas detection to their unique application needs.

The Optio G goes beyond detection with powerful integration features, including six relays controlled by customizable alarm combinations, two analog outputs (4–20 mA / 0–2 V), and Modbus RTU over wireless networking for seamless connectivity to control systems. A graphical menu setup simplifies configuration, while its low-power design ensures efficient, long-term operation in remote or demanding conditions.

What gases can the Optio G detect?

The OPTIO G can detect up to 16 different gases including Carbon Monoxide (CO), Methane (CH4), Hydrogen (H2), Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Carbon Dioxide (CO2), Oxygen (O2), Chlorine (CL2), Ammonia (NH3), Ozone (O3), Nitric Oxide (NO), Propane (C3H8), Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN), Hydrogen Chloride (HCL), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and Volatile Organic Compounds (VOCs). Additional gas configurations are available – contact Conspec sales for a complete list of available sensors and part numbers.

How many sensors can each Optio G detector support?

Each OPTIO G multi gas detector can accommodate up to 6 sensors simultaneously. This eliminates the need to purchase and install multiple single-gas detectors, providing a cost-effective all-in-one gas detection solution for general purpose areas.

What is the wireless range and network capacity of the Optio G system?

The OPTIO G wireless system supports up to 32 wireless detectors per gateway. Each detector can also connect remote sensors up to 100 feet away, significantly expanding the coverage area of your gas detection network. The system features minimal wireless network setup requirements and communicates through an OPTIO XP configured gateway.

How much does the Optio G cost and what connectivity options are there?

The OPTIO G starts at $1,056.00. The system includes 4 dry relay contacts and Modbus RTU over RS-485 communications through the gateway, allowing integration with existing alarm systems or process control equipment. This connectivity enables automated responses to gas detection events.

Is the Optio G suitable for hazardous locations?

Yes, the OPTIO G is designed for use in classified areas and general purpose environments. The detector features an easy-to-use interface with infrared remote control for safe operation. The wireless design minimizes installation requirements while maintaining reliable performance in industrial safety applications.

How is the Optio G calibrated?

The calibration of the OPTIO G uses an intuitive 2-step process that includes applying zero gas and span gas (50% of the target gas). In mining applications, this procedure can be performed underground and does not require the gas detector to be brought to the surface. Calibration intervals will depend on the amount / frequency of a given target gas that is present within the environment.

How do I stock spare parts for the Optio G?

  • The Optio G has a flexible compartmentalized design. Based on that, if components get damaged, you only need to replace the parts that are damaged (i.e. main board, sensor cells, etc.)
  • Our recommendation is to stock replacement sensors but be aware that sensors have shelf lives.
  • It also makes sense to stock a few spare boards
